Innovative Education

I am considering putting together a series of weekly courses based on various business principals that I believe can be applied in this virutal world. If there is an interst, then I will proceed. I will likely charge a nominal tuition. Please let me know your constructive feedback.

* Basic Principals of Business: General concepts to consider when starting a business. How to do a S.W.O.T analysis.

* Finance: How companies make money. What are the numbers and what do they mean?

* Investments: How investors make money. Stocks & bond basics.

* Marketing: Understanding Product Life Cycle; and Porter's 5 Forces.

* Human Resources: How do you attract and retain employees? Conflict management. Motivation.

Re: Innovative Education
Count me in, I would definetly enjoy such a study. I have attended a few sponsored by NCI but was very disappointed. I have taken RL course on these principles but those apply to RL businesses, would be great to become better informed about the virtual world.

Have you thought about maybe enticing successful SL entrepenuers to speak, or maybe expanding topics covered. Offering certification for participation in this education?

Oh my the possibilities.

Sorry I just love learning and this kind of stuff excites me.

Thanks

Marc,

In SL I have a facility that I would be more than happy to host events like this at, if you need.

Also, if you need materials or assistance creating a online format please let me know, in RL I own a training company and I am familiar with creating courseware.

Re: Innovative Education
Marc, great idea. I would be interested as well. Have you considered teaming up with Guardian, he often writes on financial topics in his blog, http://secondchaos.blogspot.com/

Re: Innovative Education
For a long while on WSE, not sure if the posting are still there, I did a series of CEO education discussions about communication and various things. I doubt I have the postings anywhere but I believe I do have the logs from the meetings of the first SLEC before Intlibber's that discussed a lot of this information as well. Very beneficial information from Rodders Holgado, myself, Loch Harlan (i think), and a host of investors that were in the SLEC with the company CEOs. Let me know if you would like to review them. They are over a year old during a much more open time in SL but a lot of the same principals apply. The wiki from Legolas may still be out there as well.
