Re: Moving Backward slightly
As Arbitrage pointed out a flat fee nomatter size would make smalltraders disappear.
The alternative of having commision on both sides, in my opinion i don't see the point, it only gives ppl a larger math headake before placing an order and the result is thesame.
Alternative is commissionfree trading with "small" monthly fees based on portfolio size/trading limits, but that solution would be unfavourable to investors that just buy and hold, it would only be benefetical to stockflippers.
For now i would keep the fees as they are at 2,5%, it's simple and it's fair.

Investor Allen - Gone from search!
This is quiet interresting, if you search for Investor Allen, it returns nothing, in other words Investor Allen is either banned by LL or he simply closed his account.

To make it even more "interresting", compared to normal bans, classifields ususaly stay untouched in this case if you search for any of AIG's ads, they're gone!

I don't wanna fuel any speculative theories, but he should have informed the market about this situation by now. Further interresting is the timing, VSTEX is launching in just a few days... Hmm, let's see what the future will prove.

No offence taken, due to the recent events in sl finances i try to focus on worst case scenarios and i realize i was by far too quick too jump on "what if's" on this one. I'm glad you're here and plan to stay, wish you the best with your business.

Re: Totally Flabbergasted
Limiting would provide more stability in prices, in rl it is often beeing done, ie: if a stock dives/goesup 20% it is beeing halted for 15-30mins and situation gets investigated, it can be abit unrealistic to hold same timeframe in sl since we dont have regular business hours unlike rl, halting a stock for a day because price goes suspiciously up/down can cause more trouble than anything, a simple sl-friendly alternative would be to implement ceo price protection ie: if ceo's would use 5% of cashfloat for protection a nonexpiring buy order would be placed at XX% below the current avg and similar amount would be placed for sale at XX% above, for this to be working effectively we would need a stort of autotrade function otherwise it would become a headake to adjust those 2 orders several times a day (a complete waste of time).

As far as liquidating shares shouldnt be necesary, at some point once the company has become profitble (enough to pay any serious dividents) it is infact an advantage to hold enough ceo shares to avoid hitting below 50% when a secondary is beeing done. If you look at RDX, she's paying about 2mill a month in dividents, the dividents are a joke only 50k goes to public but much of the ceo dividents go back to RDX for reinvestments something that maintains growth in the company. Similar could be done with BNT, if we take an example divident of 0.02 a share: 2,6m would be total but only 386k would land in investor hands, so the 2,2m could be either reinvested directly into the business or spent to buyback float&liquidate it to protect the price.

Nice job Enky, one thing that would be nice (necesary) is if we could get avg price, without that the analysis may lie, high low open close is fine but one can't know what pricelevels the volumes distributed at on intraday basis.

Nice input (again) Enky :)

I actualy thought of average, a just as good addon would be to post a new collumn wich is: Volume in L$, that would allow us to calculate both avg and get precisely the volume.

Re: August financials
I have to admit accounting is a headake, specialy the if you plan to use the latest template from slcapex, you did the classic mistake on where to place IPO funds, thats a capital injection not a revenue stream.

Very roughly, based on the data i have, this is what i came up with:

Balance Sheet:

Assets:
Current Assets:
Cash And Cash Equivalents: 365k
Total Current Assets: 365k

Long Term Investments: 40k (scripting)
Property Plant and Equipment: 595k (land + buildings)
Intangible Assets: 1210k (brand values and non-physical stuff like that, wich was priced at preipo to 1210k)
Total Assets: 2210k

Liabilities:
Accounts Payable: 119k(land tier+ads)
Total liabilities: 119k

Shareholder Equity:
Common Stock: 1210k
PAID-IN Capital: 1040k
Retained Earnings: -159k
Total Shareholder Equity: 2091k
---

Income Statement:

Revenue: 0
Cost of sales: 119k
Gross profit: -119k

Operating expenses:
One time expenses: 635k (land scripting and such)
Operating profit: -754k

Equity per share: 0,92
Net Tangible Assets per share: 0,39
PE ratio: N/A

Thats the balance sheet and income statement constructed with my totaly uneducated and unexperienced accounting undestanding, hope you find it informative, for a good explination on how to add stuff and valuate stuff into the balance sheet and income statement theres a nice overview here: http://beginnersinvest.about.com/cs/investinglessons/l/blles3intro.htm

Re: XXX Financials and Important news!
Suggestion, and answer to savvy's question, based on the info Dimitri provided the pricing on his stake was based on non-tangible assets (his skills :)... in other words no "cash", we priced his brains at 540k L$.

Now to my suggestion:

Instead of selling your stake i as a shareholder would prefer to see a secondary wich would be bought by the potential new owner, this means the Owner will not sell his stake, the reason why i see this as a much better solution is because:

1. This gives us (investors) a confidence that you will try to find someone that actualy can do the job, instead of accepting highest bid.

2. Lets say you do a secondary for 500k, this would double the size of XXX to 2 sims, You would still own about 30% so would the new owner.

3. Finaly, your advantage as the founder of XXX, you'll make money from XXX while prioritating school.

Personaly i find it very surprising that you figured out that school is coming up recently and not earlier, however i can understand that you underestimated, in any case the option of selling your stake is not a very good one (seen from the investors side).

Another alternative wish is worst of all the alternatives for everybody is to sell the sim, selloff all assets and do a liqiudation dividend.

Re: XXX Financials and Important news!
Btw. something that i find quiet interresting, look at these numbers:

2007-10-15 06:03:18 2.05 1.20 1.85 1.55 1.85 19586
2007-10-14 06:03:06 2.23 1.09 2.05 1.15 1.98 32607

Compare them to usual highs/lows the present weeks (usualy the volumes are at 2-5k, lows have been prety steady at 1,5 to 1,9), i find that very unlikely that it's just the market that figured out suddenly "LET'S TRADE!"... the volumes last 2 days are so MUCH higher than usualy that it leads me to the following question:

Was this information that you posted as an announcment given to some investor "friends" before you posted the announcment ?

Not that it's illegal in sl markets as far as i know, but i'd like to know.
