| I have some Greasemonkey (Firefox) scripts that do exactly this (dollar average calculations per stock) I have some servers being commissioned as we speak, once I get some hosting space I'll post a link here. They are licensed under the little known 'it broke? you can keep the pieces' license, but your welcome to try them out. Regards, Phill Lemon (SL: Amor Philbin) |

General Investment Discussion » SLFinances, A gift to SecondLife investors SLFinances, A gift to SecondLife investors |
| Greetings fellow investors. My name is Amor Philbin, better known to my real life friends and associates as Phill Lemon, Director, Lucid Communications, LLC. As our gift to the SL Financial community, I am happy to present to you slfinances.net A community wikipedia that I hope with your assistance will grow to become an extensive resource for investors of all types and experience. As a new investor, I rapidly became confused by the shear volume of information, terms, processes and principles involved. Yet at the same time I realized that having having a solid working knowledge of the principles involved would greatly enhance my chances of success and profits. We present slfinances.net as a blank sheet, we welcome your participation, comments, feedback and most importantly submissions. Our goal is to provide insight into the public companies throught SL, accounting and investment best practices, tutorials, links and recommendations etc. Please visit us today at http://slfinances.net and create an account slfinances is completely free, is not ad-supported and is paid for and maintained entirely by Lucid Communications LLC for the benefit of the entire community. The system runs on a dual Opteron dedicated server and a direct backbone link capable of upto 10MBs/sec We will be looking for site administrators and moderators over the next few weeks, if your interested in assisting us with this project, please drop me a notecard in-game, Kind Regards. Phill Lemon (Amor Philbin) Director, Lucid Communications. LLC |

SLCapEx Suggestions » AVIX Tag Re: AVIX Tag |
| Well, grep would find them, what we really need here is the kitchen sink. Any good unix admin will tell you kitchen sink == sed. So, I humbly submit.. $ find /var/www/ -type f -exec sed -i 's/AVIX/Capex/g' {} \; which will find/replace all the instances recursively down an entire directory path. Regards, Amor Philbin (who may or may not be a good Unix admin, depends on who you ask!) |

| Many thanks Maelstrom, Please do upload your logo. I've had a few people send me messages asking _why_ I am providing slfinances.net as a resource for free. The answer is very simple. By improving public knowledge of the companies, exchanges and individuals behind Second Life, I feel that the overall health of the SL stock exchanges, the companies that are listed upon them and indeed, the overall health of the economy itself will improve. My business plan, if that's what you can call it, is to make use of the potential for growth that results, and the additional information available from our user submissions to make smarter, more profitable investments. I consider logos to be a key part of an overall public awareness campaign, more investors bring additional capital and word of mouth advertising that's hard to beat at any expense. I expect the wiki to evolve rapidly at first as we get the page formatting, templates and styles more formal and standardized, if you prefer, you can email me the logo at admin@slfinances.net and i'll work on adjusting the formatting to suit Regards, Phill Lemom, Director. SLCapEx Suggestions » ATM Scammers be aware Re: ATM Scammers be aware |
| I've been considering this issue now, I have a couple of thoughts. One would be fairly trivial to implement, but would involve the use of the infamously nasty LLSensor() function to constantly cross reference a list of known objects with the currently detected objects. Set to ignore avatars, and some automagic trickery with int type PASSIVE / int type SCRIPTED it will most likely create some false positives. If the only response was a llWhisper with a strongly worded warning about checking the payment recipient and the use of Ctrl-Shift-T the false positives wouldn't be a huge and immediate concern. I believe that type AVATAR would sill flag on attachments, if that speculation is incorrect then you could reduce error rates to practically zero. The 2nd method is more in-depth, and would require some well thought out security planning and API design. Essentially it would involve removing ATM's altogether in favor of a personal device with debit permissions set. With a secure API and encryption it should be possible to make payment from any location in the world and indeed externally using the XML-RPC API's. With a fixed llGiveMoney target, a user would only have to authenticate the device; immediately after receiving the node from SLCAPEX The benefits here are improved (yet sill imperfect) transaction security, the ability to pay from any inworld location, and potentially a web API facilitating payment from slcapex.com Thoughts, Comments? (I may well create proof-of-concept implementations for both of the above) Regards, Phill Lemon, Director. Lucid Communications, LLC SL: Amor Philbin |
