Brautigan & Tuck Holdings Public Forum » Frequent aquisitions vs Dividends
Re: Frequent aquisitions vs Dividends
As a smalltime stockholder in BNT - partially due to direct investment in the stock, partially due to BNT acquiring other companies I had invested in - I also share some of the concerns or rather questions posed above.

I knew upfront that BNT would be a growth company, and no dividend was to be expected for a long time. I'm fine with that, as that was declared when I decided to make my investment into BNT.

What I would certainly applaud is a more open and transparent communication towards current (and potential investors) about the current status of BNT, their immediate plans for the future and how the diversification is paying off. I'm all in favor of not putting all your eggs into one basket, but it would be nice to know where and what the other baskets are.

SLCapEx Suggestions » Implementation from the top down
Re: Implementation from the top down
I'm pleased to see the forums getting more use soon and hopefully the weekly updates will both be beneficial to the investors who are being kept up to date more regulary, as well as the CEO's who may get valuable feedback on their announcements or future plans.

Re: Specializing Sectors
Does this mean that there is no option to have an LNL ATM placed right now, unless it fits the sim wide affiliate plan?

I was looking forward to being able to offer my customers a broad range of ATM's conveniently close to my office, and for the time being LNL is the only one missing.

Thanks for the swift install, Luke.

Lindsay, I totally understand why LNL doesn't want to do a huge install of ATM's right now, and in fact applaud it. It's better to grow slow but steadily opposed to rush out and "take over the market" only to see all the hard work crumble when it turns out there was no solid foundation to build upon.

As far as I'm aware they are not yet listed but they should be on SLCapex in the (near?) future.

General Investment Discussion » Sustainability of Large IPOs and other thoughts
Re: Sustainability of Large IPOs and other thoughts
I've gone to the very valuable issues brought up and the feedback both from other SLCapex users as well as management and would like to throw in my L$2.

Companies are free to try and raise as much IPO cash as they like, and while I definitely am in favor of informing potential IPO's what the market can and cannot absorb, the ultimate decision making power should lay with them. If someone floats a large IPO and then is disappointed that it doesn't sell out fast enough or is reversed, it seems they didn't do their homework that well. It may be a sign of how focussed the company is on it's own ideas and disregards their surroundings which will definitely affect them sooner or later.

The ads on the exchange don't really bother me and I support a secondary stream of revenue flowing into the exchange. If they can relate more to SL related businesses or SL in general I'd be more tempted to click one and check it out, but it may end up being some incestuous setup where those who are listed advertise and the we never manage to bring in outside advertisers or interest.

The detailed revenue and liabilities for SLCapex are much appreciated Arb, as it shows where we are, where we may be in the near future and what lies ahead.

Exchange hopping has been going on for some companies and I agree with the one of the earlier posters : I hate being move to yet another exchange, with yet another interface and account to keep up to date.

If I see some of my investments hop around in an attempt to gather more interest or trades, they better have a very solid business plan which convinces me to stay invested in them, otherwise I'll dump them the first opportunity I get, even at a break even or slight loss.

Investors - if you ask me - are looking for stability in the volatile and ever changing market and SL world.

SLCapEx Suggestions » Update Requests
Re: Update Requests
I don't have any real feature requests for the time being, but a 5 day limit order validity would definitely get my vote, and so do RSS feeds of company announcements (in our current portfolio, all companies, companies on a watch list etc maybe?)

SLCapEx Suggestions » being more considerate to international customers
Re: being more considerate to international customers
I'm an international (European) SL user, online at the weirdest hours due to a RL job that has a funky shift system, and investor in a few of the SLcapex listed companies.

People can't be online all the time, and when you say that some of the CEO's don't do enough to accommodate users in a different or several timezones away, Till, I partially agree.

However, I stopped going to shareholder meetings myself, partially due to personal time restraints, but also to low turnout as Lindsay mentions. The information I could gather from such a meeting I can often obtain through :

- previous shareholder meeting minutes or chat log (often available after a simple request to the CEO of the company)
- a group notice posted by the CEO with a wrap up of the agenda and topics
- Official post in a forum
- Direct questions asked in either form of a notecard or IM to the CEO or other staff in charge.

If you'd like more meetings in the same timezone as you are, I consider that a very valuable request. Yet at the same time I ask you to take a look at when you are available yourself, Till. Are you on 24/7, accommodating all timezones?

If the CEO's that feel they could improve on investor relationships would offer all of the four ways of passing information along mentioned above, we'd go a long way from needing to meet "in person".
