General Investment Discussion » Gambling TOS Re: Gambling TOS |

| I sort of agree. But I believe that all the "moralizing" going on about gambling is counter productive. By LL's own admission, they invited the FBI to investigate gambling in SL. By that same admission the FBI did not comment one way or the other! According to Mael, this is "monopoly money"!! Obviously the FBI felt the same. (Way to go Mael!). I think that we should forget about the moralizing and realize that gambling is a way of life and people are going to do it. Business is business. Gambling and Sex, no matter how you put it or like it, are the major components of SL (and actually RL if you think about it). If gambling is banned how much longer before Sex is banned and then what do we have? Not a whole heck of a lot! As business people we should seriously consider this. I am hearing calls for Exchanges to be banned as just another form of gambling. (Actually if you are a serious craps player and play "right" that isn't that far from the truth.). Also remember that prostitution (Escorts in SL) is really illegal in the US except for controlled parts of Nevada. So those of you on your high horse in SL, and that are residents of the U.S. keep those things in mind. There are several companies on all exchanges that are involved in the sex trade that could be hurt by an outright ban, not to mention all of SL! I read an interesting post by a high school kid today. In the PG world they bet on War Games, much like we bet on Horse Racing in RL. There is nothing random about that and yet that is acceptable according to LL’s recent ruling. Just something to think about. Me, I think I may go to PG land and set up a bookie joint! In my opinion, we, as business people in SL, should put pressure on LL to reconsider their illogical ban. Whether you agree religiously or philosophically with gambling you have to lend your voice, because it will not stop here! Next will be sex and then advertisement that doesn’t pay enough to the sponsor, etc. etc…… Just my 2 cents worth! |

| Good point! And I am sure that it only applies to RL exchanges. US Congress and Senate have no idea what is happening in the virtual worlds by their own admission. LL is opening a can of worms that it can't even conceivably control! Too bad we couldn't have created SL Lawyers befroe all this happened!! Ah well, live and learn. Maybe it is time for some of us to invest in a data haven and start a new Third Life there! |

| Am I missing something here? I thought that the whole concept behind transparency was the public disclosure of Name and Geographical location at a minimum. If we can not get that information when a company goes up for IPO then there is no such thing as transparency and nothing has changed. How can we, as investors, do our own due dilligence on a corporation and it's officers without that information? I have to agree with Int on this point. Without this info, we can't trust a corporation to invest in. | ||

| Let's stick to the basics here! I do not believe investors are demanding addresses, phone numbers, etc. unless I have lost something on the posts. I think all that we are asking for is that the person who is in control of the corporation that he/she wants us to invest in, to at least provide to the public, name (first and last) and geographical location, i.e. city and state. I could care less about the zip code or anything else to tell you the truth. I trust that CapEx cares about that level of detail and checks it out. That is why we are supposed to trust you. We don't need to know the nitty-gritty details, we only need to know that you have done your due dilligence and the way you prove that you have done your diligence (again this is a trust factor) is that you DEMAND that every IPO has a full name and geographical location listed in the document. We trust that you, CapEx, has the rest of the information, held securely in case a court asks, in case of problems. At the info meeting when this whole thing started, Arbitrage was asked specifically if he would support Transparency and the new SLEC policies which Investor Allen had put into place. I believe that his response was "Yes". I also believe that he said, that the new exchange would go beyond that! I believe that Investor Allen had set some precedents, and while I don't agree a lot with him on many issues, I believe that the precedents that he had set were the beginnings of some sort of setting up trust in the investment community. That's what has attracted a lot of people to this exchange in the first place! Now, Lindsay and Xavier, no offense, but your posts sound like you are back peddling on that commitment. It is very confusing. First we had Investor Allen's reluctance at reports even though he was demanding it from other companies (and now we have some sort of understanding why, but still!), now we have what appears to be a backpeddaling on Transparency from the new owners! I beg you to please fix this ASAP. I have already lost close to 50K on my portfolio because it is dropping in value in megaDollars! This has happened since the take over. I understand that there is a transitional period, but during that period I believe it is a mistake to come out looking like hardliners against transparency and everything else that this exchange attempted to set up in the first place. I don't want to lose more Lindens, thank you very much!!!! |

| Maybe this is something KDC can implement. They are rating stocks already. Maybe if they incorparate some of Bloom's ideas it may increase the value the rating system, since it would help investors judge the ratings in more detail. Not sure how they do their ratings now, but it might help if they list their factors (maybe they do already, if they pardon my ignorance) and the weighting placed on each factor. Just a thought. |

| Kudos on the ratings. I like them a lot. I don;t know if you monitor other boards but here is a quote form King Bloom on the Avix Suggestion board: "....In addition to perforance rating, I think there should be a score system for each company, similar to restaurant rating for cleanest. Something like if a company is SLEC member 5 points, if SLEC member on board 10 points, post financial statement monthly add 10 points, have email or phone contact info 15 points, or create a website for the company add 20 points (not pre-existing website like CYB, but a website created just for SL business such www.myllbt.com, it show how how committed they really are)" Was wondering how difficult it would be to incorporate some sort of scoring system similar to this into your current rating system? Also, are you posting the criteria that you are using for the ratings? I apologize if I missed that. But if you aren't, it would be helpful to know what factors you are looking at in a company and what weight each factor has in your decision making. |

| What is MH's current sales level on a monthly basis. Does he see franshising his operation as way of expanding business or reducing risk? Also has there been any market research to evaluate the demand for sales vs rental. Or on what marketing techniques would work to draw buyers? Thanks. |
