Re: Welcome to the AVIX General Forums!
Thank you for making forums! This is something needed ON THE EXCHANGES for awhile now. You rock, Unoti.

Good 'Till Cancelled (GTC) orders
I would like Avix to consider implementing GTC orders, which don't expire in a set time period. This is a common feature on most brokerages, and it would be great to see it on Avix.

Re: Good 'Till Cancelled (GTC) orders
On liquidity? Probably negative. But I'm willing to make that trade as opposed to forcing investors to log in every x days in order to confirm the order they wanted placed the first time.

These things exist IRL (even on low-volume stocks) and do just fine.

...dangit - thought these replies would be serrated. That one above was to Utoni.

Mael: If someone places a large order and then leaves SL, I think they have larger problems. My econ-sense also tells me that if their large order starts interfering with the market, it's because it's providing an advantage to investors.

Yellow: It is one of my favorite features on other exchanges, and I use it all the time there. (Also, as I keep saying, this thing exists IRL and I use it there, too.)

Re: editing our old posts?
Yes, I agree. Taking a look at the thread I created will let you see that I pretty much failed at replying logically. An edit button would be wonderful.

Re: minimum share purchase/sell
Remember that IRL, anyone who owns x% (I'm sure Mael knows the x here) of a company has to disclose their activity not just when they do it, like WSE mandates, but well in advance. That makes me think that this type of transparency is generally accepted in at least the US markets.

Re: minimum share purchase/sell
Back to the thread, though...

I say let the buyer/seller beware. I never, but never, buy or sell market. It's always limit. This is a precaution against the very thing you're describing. If someone doesn't take the time to look at the quantities of the orders before placing a market order, then "a fool and his money are soon parted."

I feel there is no need for a minimum purchase or sale.

Re: Good 'Till Cancelled (GTC) orders
Mael: (a) They can already do that - it just means they have to log in every three days. (b) If the market price is to the point where the large order is coming into play, then it's providing investors with an advantage. Either investors believe the stock is worth more than the price of the large sell order, and so they get it cheaper, or they believe it's worth less than the large buy order, and so they get more than they think it is worth. Either way, the large order is good for the investor.

The only people who stand to lose from large sustained orders are day traders, because it doesn't allow the stocks to move in a way that allows them to profit.

Again, GTC orders exist on every brokerage I've ever seen IRL (warning: I've only seen US brokerages).

Re: Good 'Till Cancelled (GTC) orders
I'd rather not cater to day-traders, but rather to investors considering the value of companies and interested in the longer-run picture.

When I consider purchasing some of a company, I make a judgment as to what I think the price of that company should be. If it is trading under that, then I consider it a value. Thus, when someone caps the price (on either side of the market), it's far more likely to help me than hurt me.

GTC orders really aren't all that evil people. Just log in to your favorite brokerage IRL and you'll find them there.
