General Investment Discussion » Guess the truth hurts Sky Hedge Fund |
| Dear investors and prospects, Thank you so much for your recent interest and the questions you have raised. This has accounted for an additional growth and we are now up to 45 investors and 7 institutional. We have been in Second Life since July 1st and managed to return 37.3% since this time period. Our investors have experienced 13 positive weeks, including 11 straight positive and only one negative due to the vat regulation; in the same time frame most markets have experienced a downward trend and many investors have lost large amounts. It is important to disclose that all of our information is disclosed to my investors on a weekly report basis as well as a biweekly report. Transparency is my core business and being in compliance is a must. The way I handle my investors and my financials are unprecedented to how SL companies previously reported their own. Our goal is to bring real world-like transparency and disclosures as a standard to virtual markets, allowing other companies to follow suit. Here is some additional information about real life hedge funds and facts for further clarification. Legally, hedge funds are most often set up as private investment partnerships that are open to a limited number of investors and require a very large initial minimum investment. Investments in hedge funds are illiquid as they often require investors keep their money in the fund for a minimum period of at least one year. For the most part, hedge funds (unlike mutual funds) are unregulated because they cater to sophisticated investors. In the U.S., laws require that the majority of investors in the fund be accredited. That is, they must earn a minimum amount of money annually and have a net worth of over $1 million, along with a significant amount of investment knowledge. You can think of hedge funds as mutual funds for the super-rich. They are similar to mutual funds in that investments are pooled and professionally managed, but differ in that the fund has far more flexibility in its investment strategies. It is important to note that hedging is actually the practice of attempting to reduce risk, but the goal of most hedge funds is to maximize return on investment. -Estimated to be a $1 trillion industry and growing at about 20% per year with approximately 8350 active hedge funds. -Includes a variety of investment strategies, some of which use leverage and derivatives while others are more conservative and employ little or no leverage. -Many hedge fund strategies seek to reduce market risk specifically by shorting equities or through the use of derivatives. -Most hedge funds are highly specialized, relying on the specific expertise of the manager or management team. -Performance of many hedge fund strategies, particularly relative value strategies, is not dependent on the direction of the bond or equity markets -- unlike conventional equity or mutual funds (unit trusts), which are generally 100% exposed to market risk. -Many hedge fund strategies, particularly arbitrage strategies, are limited as to how much capital they can successfully employ before returns diminish. As a result, many successful hedge fund managers limit the amount of capital they will accept. -Hedge fund managers are generally highly professional, disciplined and diligent. -Their returns over a sustained period of time have outperformed standard equity and bond indexes with less volatility and less risk of loss than equities. -Beyond the averages, there are some truly outstanding performers. -Investing in hedge funds tends to be favored by more sophisticated investors, including many Swiss and other private banks, that have lived through, and understand the consequences of, major stock market corrections. -An increasing number of endowments and pension funds allocate assets to hedge funds. How do I effectively use a strategy in SL for such returns? It starts with due diligence and extensive research; many CEOs have experienced it through my daily meetings. Another fact to include is that as part of advanced trading my hedge fund owns 3 trading softwares, which were created exclusively for the fund. What we do is help the “small investor” our investor base range from L$1000.00 to L$300000.00, so it is very diverse and we cater to every type of market enthusiast. While you consider whether or not this type of investment is right for you, remember that we are trading thousands of shares daily at any given time- the profits come on a daily and weekly basis and this is what my investors have come to experience with all reports. Once again, thank you for the elevated attention and inquiry about Sky Hedge Fund, for further information contact me in-world or visit us at http://slfinances.net/index.php/Sky_Investment_Funds our Investment Center HQ has recently moved to SLCapEX. Thank you again, SkyRanger Hammerer Hedge Fund Manager/CEO Sky Investment Funds |

General Investment Discussion » Midas the next... Re: Midas the next... |
| Easy to point fingers and blame everyone else. My research was concluded over two months ago and I indicated the risk of investing with Midas Commons just after the Ginko collapse. My research allowed me to discover that Midas had uncommon amount of Ginko bonds, which indicates he may have lost 95% in value of all Ginko investment, I also found him selling those for 0.10 cent (possible 90% loss total) and buying a substantial amount of HCB. Was that his money or his investors money? That I do not know, what I do know is this- this information has been public the whole time just by conducting due dilligence and research. My conclusion was that his business model did not fit into my risk assessment and warned my investors against doing the same. 2-3 months later, another major bankrupcy. Make your conclusions from the above, and again- another stain to the SL economy, but we will recover, and I believe there is a lesson to be learned that will prevent future ones from taking place.
