SLCapEx Suggestions » Update Requests
Re: Update Requests
I have just written a long piece for my blog about the state of different Second Life Stock Exchanges. Right now, SLCapEx has the best features out there, at least for my needs. However, there are a few things that I would be interested in seeing.

The ability to download historical data is very big in my mind. ISE does a pretty good job of that.

Adding RSS feeds of the news here would also be a great improvement.

Enhancing the webservices information would be nice. I really like the simple information that is currently provided, but it would be nice to get a feed of transactions, including transaction size via webservices.

Ideally, it would be great to be able submit orders automatically. Support for the FIX protocol would be great, but that would be a giant project and not one I would expect to see anytime soon. You just need to get it before NASDAQ jumps in on the game.

Trades by Major Stock Holders, trade size.
Over the past day, over 1.6 million shares of BNT have changed hands. Yet the stock ownership for major stock holders has not changed? How often does this table change?

There is no list that I can find that says how many shares have been bought or sold by major stock holders.

In addition, it would be great to see the size of these trades. Were there many small trades taking place, just a few really large trades? So interesting mix of big and small trades? What was the standard deviation of trade size?

All of this information would be very useful to serious traders.

Re: Trades by Major Stock Holders, trade size.
Yes, the question I was asking was how often does the list of people owning 5% or more of a particular security get updated. During this period of high trading volume on BNT, for example, the number of shares listed by the two top owners has not changed and I suspect that the volume is not all by outsiders.

It would be good if we were told how often the list changes, had a timestamp of when it was last updated, or ideally, if it listed each trade by a major holder as it occurs.

Beyond that, there are discussions questioning the size of each block traded. I can find daily volumes but not the size of each block as it happens (other than my own blocks).

These are the sort of things that need to be changed.

Re: Trades by Major Stock Holders, trade size.
I think this illustrates what I'm asking for. Instead of cutting and pasting and trying to figure out who sold how much, or by looking at the graph and trying to get a sense of how many shares have traded, which still doesn't tell you how many blocks were traded, It would be much nicer if the research could show the last ten trades by major holders; the date and how much they sold would be a great start.

Likewise for the charts, instead of trying to guess from the graphics, it would be great if the raw data were available. Time of trade, price, and number of shares. That way people could do their own analysis on real numbers instead of trying to interpolate and not knowing what sort of delay there really is.

Of course, the real idea would be for all of this to be available as a webservice as well.

AW - Thanks. Adding things like this to the todo list is very helpful. I understand all to well the costs and timing of trying to add new features. Ideally, you will be working in ways to make the underlying data more accessible so that traders can build their own tools.

I did just write a program that scrapes and compares the research page. For the time being, I'm probably going to run it just a couple times a day, and then write up my reports on my blog, Orient Lodge.

Tnw Designs and Real Estate » TNW Grid test and online success!!!!
Re: TNW Grid test and online success!!!!
Is the TNW Grid based on OpenSim? I've been running OpenSim for a while and spent a lot of time talking with developers.

OpenSim does not currently support currency. I spent a lot of time arguing with developers about this. They were not interested. The folks at CentralGrid are building their own currency handling routines. Any currency transfers between OpenSim and SL is likely to have to go through a third party. Are you working on something similar?

Also, at presently, OpenSim does not support the import and export of assets. Are you developing your own routines to support import and export of assets? The issue of how to export from the main SL grid remains an open issue. You have a way of addressing this?

As to the costs, I was at a conference with Philip Linden, where he said he expected land prices to remain fairly constant, even with new grids coming online, because the cost of running the servers and supplying the bandwidth will provide a base price for tier prices.

I don't want to be a nay sayer. I think the development of alternative grids is extremely important and I've written a lot about it already on by blog, http://www.orient-lodge.com/Games However, I'm concerned about getting as much details out there as possible.

General Investment Discussion » Ticker Boards are Banned?
Re: Ticker Boards are Banned?
This is the most stupid thing I've heard from SLCapEx yet. The real SL stock exchanges, VSTEX, ACE, and now LLBT continue to support ticker boards.

SLCapEx is becoming more and more like WSE every day.

General Investment Discussion » Ticker Boards are Banned?
Re: Ticker Boards are Banned?
My concern is the same as Anastasia Gazov's. I have never used a ticker board in Second Life. I can see some potential interest in them, but they aren't important. However, data transparency, especially in these days of great distrust of financial institutions in Second Life is of the utmost importance.

I received the same message as Anastasia when I attempted to access the datafeed.

TICK,ER,BOAR,DS,ARE,BAN,NED,:)

It was that message that brought me to this forum. The lack of announcement of the cessation of datafeeds, even if it does turn out to be temporary in this current environment made it appear as if SLCapEx is hiding something.

I do hope that this is, as has been suggested, simply a temporary problem that will be fixed forthright and it was merely a failure to adequately communicate what was going on with the datafeeds that has caused the concern.

I look forward to the return of the datafeeds as quickly as possible. As of this morning, they are still disabled.

CK/

I've sent you IMs inworld, and you've not replied, so I thought I would bring it up here.

Can you please reveal the new datafeed? Perhaps even update the documentation at:

General Investment Discussion » Liquidity on SLCapex
Re: Liquidity on SLCapex
Perhaps some of it is because the data feeds are no longer supported, thereby discouraging day traders who provide a lot of liquidity. I've been asking for these to be brought back for the past couple weeks, but have gotten no reply from SLCAPEX, so I'm doing more of my trading over at VSTEX which does support data feeds.
