Re: Pulling out all the stops for profit. (Kailen/Camping)

I'm currently sitting in a camping chair while my agent is doing little web surfing. I was thinking that DGDProtected could be employed in camping whenever his agent (a him?) are involved in something that keeps you from interacting online. It not a lot of Lindens at a time, but being able to turn off the away setting can let him camp out for some time while his agent is away from keyboard. Just a thought.

I'm sure that all of us hope for the best with the situation. At least my thoughts will be with the two of you.

SLCapEx Suggestions » better record keeping
Re: better record keeping
The Excel CSV file has that information, although the stock sales prices are still coming out incorrectly. I have to manually enter that on my spreadsheet.

SLCapEx Suggestions » have a way to transfer cash to a different person
Re: have a way to transfer cash to a different person
I'll second that if it is feasible. However, it should be restricted to cash only. Having the ability to transfer stocks as well might have some manipulation possibilities.

SLCapEx Suggestions » Currency Buy/Sell Page Distinction
Currency Buy/Sell Page Distinction
This is more of a question than a suggestion, but is there a reason that there are two separate pages for buying and selling currency? I'm thinking that they could be on the same page in the way that a stock's trade page is, with a menu to select Buy L$ or Sell L$. Thanks in advance.

SLCapEx Suggestions » Currency Buy/Sell Page Distinction
Re: Currency Buy/Sell Page Distinction
Thanks for answering. I figured that the possibility of confusing Lindens with USD was a factor in the decision. And you are right in that for someone new to currency exchanges that it can be perplexing. (I actually learned the process myself on the LindeX, finally understanding how limit orders work.)

I have personally used the AVIX currency exchange for buying and selling, which yielded a small profit, but I agree that it is primarily used in one direction or the other. It will be interesting to see how it evolved as more people use it and when alternative means of funding it emerge. (I'm hoping for ACH transactions soon. PayPal fees can really eat into funds.)

SLCapEx Suggestions » Web site: Need password management
Re: Web site: Need password management
Perhaps as a long-term goal there could be an optional system for outside contact, such as e-mail, IM, or text messaging. I for one would appreciate being able to know if a order is filled without having to always monitor the website. I would guess that others would like to have that option as well.

SLCapEx Suggestions » minimum share purchase/sell
Re: minimum share purchase/sell
I've learned to do that as well, put a limit order even if a market order is equivalent. I also agree that a caveat emptor warning is in order, although I can see how that penalises some new to stock trading. Fortunately Mael has been giving investing seminars with notes from previous sessions freely available at the branch in Friedman, so I would say that the information is available to others.

I also agree that there's no need to place minima on trading or low-volume penalties. I see what the concern is, that being hiding large orders with smaller ones. To that I would be more concerned about the spread than how the mechanics work. Perhaps showing the ten top prices on each side rather than individual orders would address this better.

SLCapEx Suggestions » have a way to transfer cash to a different person
Re: have a way to transfer cash to a different person
I'll second that idea. I'm sure that a few of us have more than one avatar, and the ability to connect them among the same person while away from SL. That would be my primary motivation. I do understand the concerns that Mael raises and would rather forego this feature if it would have a significant chance of backfiring on the exchange, but as the ability for banned SL accounts to withdraw funds anyway via the currency exchange exists, Unoti's suggestion is less of a concern. Just my non-expert opinion.

SLCapEx Suggestions » combine like stock buy/sell orders
Re: combine like stock buy/sell orders
I think that a lot of people will agree with this particular suggestion, but I'll let them speak for themselves. I would modify the above in that consecutive same-price orders be what is combined. That is, if a person places an order at a given price, then later adds an order at the same price after someone else has place an order, they would not be combined. They would be combined if no other orders would go in-between. This would show the FIFO rule and still address the concerns made.
